NOTE: This blog is long. But luckily, most of that is because of pictures!
This is by far not our first investigation. Gary and I have been investigating for two years, and as OPS, we have been investigating since July. However, the place we went to this week is a new cemetery none of us even knew existed.
We learned about Old Duncan Cemetery from Gary's uncle. He said that he used to go there as a teenager and that the cemetery is haunted by a woman and a girl. There is a nearby pond that he said is haunted by a woman in white with a baby. We mostly came to the cemetery to scout it out because Matt was unable to join us this weekend. But, we did go to the pond in the woods to see about this woman with her baby.
The cemetery itself is fairly large and has many markers. While some are actual headstones, others are simple rocks laid into the land.
There's a few newer headstones, but not very many.

Melton; Son of R.T. & L.E. Hamersley; Born Jan. 10, 1894; Dies July 10, 1984. |
Most of the graves look like this. They are very old and dilapidated.
Some graves had fallen down and were cemented in this way.

When we got to the cemetery there was still light out. It was very beautiful.
While most of the graves were old or stones, there were several that stood out.

I did my research and found out that the Woodmen of World is an insurance group. Many people used this as a way to make sure they had a proper resting place. They even had special pennies they would use in a "coin test" to see if people were legit members or not.

Dichler Duncan; Born Aug. 27, 1889; Died Mar. 23, 1894; Age 4 yrs, 6 mos, 24 days; Gone Too Soon |
This grave seemed special enough because of the brick around it. But because we live in Duncan, and the last name on the headstone is Duncan, this might be the child of someone important to the town's history.

Wilkerson; Mother Susanna; Apr 27, 1851; June 18, 1929; Father Dr. JW; Mar 4, 1849; Jan 20, 1896 (Notice the Masons symbol) |
In one corner of the cemetery, there were several graves under a cluster of trees. One of them was even propped up on a tree.

I honestly can't read this one. Next time we go out I'll try to remember to make a note of it. |

A. P? D? B? Looks like we'll never know... |
After browsing through the cemetery, we went to the woods to see about this "woman in white with her baby". We decided to stay a while, waiting for dark to see if anyone would make an appearance.
The pond was surrounded by overgrown plants and weeds. Luckily, there was an abandoned path we were able to stay on right next to it. After dark set in, Brandon and I did an EVP session while Gary and Tiffany took the camera and set into the woods.
As soon as I asked "Is anybody here with us?" Brandon and I heard an audible "Yeah". We went to Tiffany and Gary to see if it was them we had heard. We listened to the recording and automatically put it on record again. While recording, Gary told us he had said "Yeah, he is" which may have been what Brandon and I heard. But when listening to this part for the EVP session after the investigation was over, Gary told us he said "Yeah, he is," and then we hear another voice whisper "Yeah, he is," and then talk a little more while we continue our conversation. Interesting, huh?
I'll leave this post with the only really interesting photo that came from our investigation in the woods.

I made this picture the largest so you can see the two possible orbs in the upper right corner. |
Hopefully we can come back to this cemetery and see more! Hopefully next week we can go to Davis and visit the castle there.
The Collings Castle is going to be awesome!
ReplyDeleteI'll find out tomorrow if I can go!
